OCU Announces Energy Policy and Transportation Conference Speakers

The Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University will host the 2013 Energy Policy & Future of Passenger Transportation conference Sept. 17 at the Cox Business Services Convention Center downtown. Guest presenters will include CEOs, government officials, organization leaders and professors in the energy and transportation industries.

The all-day conference is sponsored by the Karl F. & June S. Martin Family Foundation and the Meinders School of Business. 

The conference is designed for professionals in public and private energy companies, government officials and policymakers, students and individuals interested in learning about natural gas, natural gas vehicles and the transportation infrastructure. Those who are interested in learning how to reduce transportation costs including fleet managers, point-to-point delivery services and even commuters will benefit from the prominent speakers that will discuss natural gas and the innovation in natural gas vehicles, equipment and infrastructure, said Dean Steven C. Agee. 

John Curtis, geology professor at the Colorado School of Mines, will discuss natural gas resources and reserves in the U.S.; Oklahoma Deputy Secretary of Energy Jay Albert will provide an update on the state’s energy plan; Kavita Khatri, global innovation new business lead for Whirlpool, will give a presentation titled “Whirlpool Innovation: Extending the Core”; Dave Evans will discuss the MERVAN project; and Eric Noble, president of the Car Lab, will discuss the outlook and technology of the automobile industry.

There will also be panel discussions including “Natural Gas Fuel Infrastructure,” featuring the CFO of OnCue Express, the manager of the natural gas products division of Musket Corporation, a regional vice president from the Clean Energy fuels company and Deputy Secretary of Energy Albert; “Conversion Incentives & Rebates: Do they work?” featuring  the government affairs vice president of the Tulsa Regional Chamber, former U.S. Representative John Sullivan, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s director of the Public Utility Division and the CNG business development manager for ONEOK; and “Evolving Technology, Integrated Markets & Decreasing Cost of Conversion – Is the Stage Set for Mass Adoption?” featuring an energy storage materials development manager from the BASF chemical company, the director of business development for Landi Renzo USA, the sales director for CUBOGAS and an automotive technical sales manager from IMPCO Automotive.
