A national organization recently named Oklahoma City University to its list of America’s Best Christian Colleges.
Institutional Research & Evaluation, an independent research and consulting organization specializing in the recruiting and retention of college students, designates the honor to colleges and universities that provide the “finest educational opportunities in a Christian environment.” Eligibility is determined from results of a nation-wide survey of 1,452 four-year colleges and universities.
Oklahoma City University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
“We are honored to be recognized as being amongst the best Christian colleges in the nation,” said OCU President Robert Henry. “Our professors, administrators and staff make every effort to provide our students with an exceptional education, and being recognized by an independent organization is a rewarding validation of our efforts.
“The curriculum at OCU has been repeatedly recognized for emphasizing the Christian value of servant leadership: ‘And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all,’” Henry added, quoting from Mark 10:44 from the Bible.
Prerequisites of making the list include an entering freshman class with high school grade point averages and college entrance exam scores that are collectively above the national average.
The schools must also be affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination, claim current or historical association with a recognized Christian denomination or provide an educational experience that incorporates basic Christian principles and beliefs into its curriculum.
