Dr. Betty Gorrell received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University, Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana University, and Doctorate in Higher and Adult Education from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, Oklahoma Baptist University School of Nursing, and Southern Nazarene University School of Nursing. Prior to entering the faculty role, she served as a staff nurse and head nurse at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City and as a staff nurse on the Pediatric Unit at Integris Baptist Health Care Center. Dr. Gorrell’s clinical specialty is pediatrics and her functional specialty is nursing education. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Oklahoma Nurses Association, and The Honor Society of Nursing: Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). Dr. Gorrell was a founding member of Beta Delta Chapter-at-Large of STTI and has served as President, Administrative Vice President from OBU, Chair of the Central Eligibility Committee, and currently is Administrative Assistant to the Board of Directors. She served on the STTI Task Force on Community. She received the Storga Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award from Beta Delta.
