Gina Crawford earned an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing in 1989 from El Reno Junior College. After graduation, she went to work for Mercy Health Center in Pediatrics. In 1990, she began working in post-partum and the newborn nursery. In 1995, she began working as a home health nurse for Kingfisher Regional Hospital. She was promoted to home health director in 2000. In 2002, she returned to school full-time at the University of Oklahoma. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing followed by her Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Kramer School of Nursing. For seven years, she was in full-time practice at Okarche Medical Clinic where she has practiced with her father, a family physician. While in private practice, she saw a variety of patients from pediatrics, adult, women’s health, and geriatrics. She has a special interest in women’s health issues and intimate partner violence. Currently, she volunteers at a charitable clinic seeing uninsured patients.
Gina currently resides in Kingfisher. She has two children, Bryce and Kayla. Kayla completed her BSN from KSN in May 2014. Gina enjoys reading, watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, and numerous outdoor activities.
Research interests: Service-learning in nurse practitioner education; rural health care- differences in health beliefs and health seeking behaviors between rural and urban populations; strategies to improve utilization of community based resources for intimate partner violence.
