Nelda Hobbs, MSN, RN, graduated from St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing diploma program in 1980. She continued her education and graduated from Oklahoma City University’s Kramer School of Nursing RN-to-BSN program in December 2003, going on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing degree from there as well with an emphasis in Nursing Education. She began her nursing career as a staff nurse at St. Anthony Hospital in the Coronary Care Unit in 1980, and then became Assistant Nurse Manager. She was also Nurse Manager in the PACU at Bone & Joint Hospital; Health Information and Referral Nurse for VHA Ask a Nurse for two and a half years; Staff Nurse in the NICU at Children’s Hospital for four years until assuming the Assistant Nurse Manager position; and Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital for one year. In June 1995, she started teaching at Platt College as a classroom and clinical instructor in the practical nursing program. In October 1996, she assumed the Nursing Program Director position of the Oklahoma City Platt College Practical Nursing Program. Her last staff nurse position was at St. Anthony Hospital in the OB department where she was a labor and delivery nurse and newborn nursery nurse. Since 2006, Ms. Hobbs has taught Child Health Nursing as adjunct faculty at Kramer School of Nursing. A Parish Nurse for seven years, she volunteers in the Parish Nursing Ministry at the Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, and is a member of the Faith Community Nursing Organization of Oklahoma. Ms. Hobbs served as Learning Enhancement Coordinator for Kramer School of Nursing from 2004-2009, and is now a full-time Instructor. In 2010, she had the pleasure of presenting her graduate project paper on High Fidelity Human Patient Simulation at the METI International Conference on Simulation in Tampa, FL. She has lived in Oklahoma City for many years, enjoys many church activities, reading, music, and technology. She has two wonderful Schnauzers, Tess & Emily, Charlie the cockatiel, Nikki the Siamese cat, and Marty the Russian Blue cat.
