Nursing Education Forum

Instructions for Authors

The purpose of Nursing Education Forum is to disseminate information to nursing educators that 1) promotes research and evidence based practices, 2) provides a medium through which ideas, experiences, successes, failures, book reviews, innovations, news, opinions, and other communiqués about nursing education can be shared, and 3) supports the scholarship of teaching. Articles must be understandable by readers at all levels of nursing education practice.

Manuscripts addressing purpose #2 above are subject to editorial review only. Scholarly manuscripts undergo a blind peer review process to select those best suited for publication. Query letters are welcome, but not required. Submissions that do not comply with the following requirements may not be considered.

Manuscripts are drafts of articles, reports, opinion pieces, letters to the editor, experiences, ideas, teaching tips, or any other material suitable for Nursing Education Forum. Each must be submitted electronically as an email attachment in Microsoft Word. The cover email must state that the manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, is not under review by another publication, and the author relinquishes the copyright to Nursing Education Forum if the manuscript is accepted for publication. The cover email must also supply the primary author’s full name, credentials, title, employing organization, mailing address, phone number, fax number, and email address.

The manuscript must be submitted in 8.5” X 11” format, double spaced, in Times New Roman size 12 font with 1” margins on all sides, with each page (except the title page) numbered in the lower bottom center. The header at the top right of each page must include the header title, but no author name or other identifying information. All aspects of the manuscript must comply with the most recent print edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), except the title page that should contain the manuscript title, authors’ names and credentials, a biographic statement about each author not to exceed 40 words each, and an abstract of not more than 150 words. Any graphics must be submitted camera ready as separate attachments in JPG format. The total manuscript is limited to 4,000 words, including title page, references, tables, or other elements.

Notification will be by return email regarding the outcome of the review. Authors will not be asked to approve changes of an editorial nature prior to publication and relinquish rights to such changes. Authors of manuscripts selected for publication will not be paid, but will receive five copies of the issue in which the article appears.

Send all communications and submissions to Marvel L. Williamson, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, Editor-in-Chief of Nursing Education Forum, at mwilliamson@okcu.edu
