FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs):
What are the entrance requirements?
For complete information, click here.
What is the application deadline?
Applications received by April 1 will receive priority consideration.
How many hours are required to complete the degree?
The PhD is a minimum of 90 credit hours post-baccalaureate. As many as 33 credits from a master’s degree may be applied toward the 90 credit hours. For more information about the curriculum, click here.
How long does it take to complete the degree?
A student taking at least the recommended two courses per semester, including summer courses, will complete the program in 11-12 semesters over a four-year period. When full-time study becomes available, students can complete the program at a more rapid pace.
How much does the degree cost?
For current tuition and fees, click here. Out-of-state students pay the same rate as in-state students. A laptop computer is required, but the university provides free systems software and upgrades to meet our requirements.
Are scholarships or financial aid available?
Yes. The cost of the high quality education provided by Kramer School of Nursing need not stop a student from choosing Oklahoma City University. For more information, click here. OCU uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as a one-stop form by which students may apply for both federal and university-based scholarships. The FAFSA can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The Kramer School of Nursing also maintains a lengthy, though by no means complete, list of scholarship opportunities from private sources. Click here for that list. Federal financial aid is available for graduate students who take at least 6 credit hours per semester. Additionally, some of our students receive educational assistance from their employers.
Do you offer any online courses?
All of the courses in the doctoral programs require both in-person and online components. This means that doctoral students come to the OCU campus for a required three-day intensive prior to beginning each Fall and Spring semester, and once during each summer. Coursework thereafter in each semester can be completed in an online format. International students are required to reside in the Oklahoma City area and participate in on-campus learning activities related to coursework and other educational requirements throughout each semester.
I would like to reserve the dates for the three-day intensives. When will they be held?
The dates for the 2011-2012 academic year are as follows:
Aug. 11-13, 2011
Jan. 5-7, 2012
May 31-June 2, 2012
