Here is how your prior accomplishments will help you earn a BSN at Oklahoma City University:
*Credit granted to RNs by Oklahoma City University for prior learning or portfolio credit will not be posted until their final BSN semester. None of these credits count toward the 30 credit hours of Oklahoma City University residency requirement.
ELIGIBILITY STATEMENT
Due to the strenuous nature of nursing and practice orientation of Oklahoma City University's Kramer School of Nursing program, the School reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any student to enroll or continue in the nursing program. This decision is based on considerations including, but not limited to, characteristics required of a professional nurse. Eligibility is determined by the faculty's evaluation of a student's ability to perform the skills necessary to complete the course objectives, and includes attitudinal and behavioral components. These elements are re-evaluated each semester.
ADMISSION

• 2.5 GPA
• RN license
• Associate degree or diploma in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program
• TOEFL score of 550 or higher if English is not the mother tongue
Although not required for admission, the following requirements must be met as specified once the student is admitted to the program before proceeding with any clinical practicum:
• Health requirements specified by each agency where clinical and practical experiences will occur, including immunizations and health tests
• Background checks and drug screenings required by any clinical facility where a patient care practicum may be conducted
Application Deadlines
To be considered for entry into the nursing program, the application process must be complete by the deadlines shown below. This includes application to the university received by the Office of Admissions, the most current official transcripts received by the university Transcript Coordinator, and the “Verification of English Language Requirement” form with an accompanying TOEFL score, if warranted, received by the relevant Kramer School of Nursing program specialist.
The only exception is for courses in progress during the summer term prior to an August start date or the fall semester prior to a January start date. Confirmation of the grades earned for those courses can be submitted after the deadline listed below, but must be received prior to beginning nursing classes. The only acceptable temporary confirmations are an unofficial transcript, a signed original letter on university letterhead from the course’s professor listing the grade for the designated course with the student’s name, or a copy of the grade report printed from the university’s system. To enroll in courses the second semester of the nursing program, an official transcript verifying those grades must be received.
Deadlines:
August 1 to begin nursing classes in August
January 1 to begin nursing classes in January. The option of starting with the Spring semester is available only on the home campus.
PROGRESSION PROCESS
To progress to each subsequent semester, the student must earn grades of C or better, maintain a 2.5 OCU GPA, and complete prerequisites. Withdrawal from a nursing course after two-thirds of the course is over will be counted as one enrollment.
