ABOUT OUR SERVICES
The Office of International Education at Oklahoma City University (OIE) recognizes that an understanding of other cultures, languages, and global issues has become increasingly significant in the education of tomorrow’s leaders. OIE has a goal of helping the campus integrate into this interconnected world by providing opportunities for students to internationalize their educational experience, encouraging OCU faculty to expand their own international experiences and internationalize their curriculum, and facilitating global awareness campus-wide.
The Office of International Education strives to prepare OCU students, faculty and staff to become globally proficient through the development of study abroad exchanges and programs, international faculty development, and OCU Community outreach.
Principle functions of OIE:
- Educate and promote international education opportunities to the OCU campus through promotional fairs and activities, faculty seminars, peer mentoring, and an exhaustive resource library.
- Develop new international education opportunities for faculty and students through procurement of reciprocal exchanges, affiliation agreements with study abroad providers, and/or consortium agreements.
- Coordinate and conduct both the mandatory university and cross-cultural orientations for all faculty and students participating in international education exchanges and trips.
- Assist international visitors in conjunction with OCU schools and colleges and administrative departments.
- Promote an atmosphere on campus that fosters international education in alignment with OCU’s Strategic Plan.
