PROGRAMS

Oklahoma City University offers students three basic ways to participate in an academic program abroad: Reciprocal Exchange/Partner programs, Faculty Led Study Tours, and Affiliated/Approved programs. Different options are best suited for different students' needs or limitations.

  • Reciprocal Exchange Programs
Reciprocal Exchange is specifically designed for students who wish to study at a foreign institution but who do not seek a degree from that institution. Reciprocal Exchange allows OCU students to pay OCU tuition and fees, but study at the foreign institution, while remaining concurrently enrolled at OCU. Institutional scholarships and federal financial aid are applicable toward OCU tuition costs associated with reciprocal exchange programs. The universities we currently hold reciprocal programs with are: Ritsumeiken University in Kyoto, Japan; UCEL in Rosario, Argentina and Alpen-Adria Universitat in Klagenfurt, Austria.
ACADEMIC CREDIT: One-to-one course credit is earned by students who participate in Reciprocal Exchange and Partner programs. The grade earned abroad is the grade transcripted and calculated into a student's OCU GPA.

    • Partner Programs
Partner programs are similar to Reciprocal Exchange programs, with the exception that no exchange balance of students is required. Students pay costs equal to OCU tuition and fees for the number of credit hours they will earn abroad and receive on-to-one credit for same.
OCU has Partner programs with Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, England and the Danish Insitute for Study Abroad (DIS), Copenhagen, Denmark.

    • Affiliated/Approved Programs
Affiliated/Approved programs are study abroad programs offered by third party providers that charge their own program fees and provide a more managed study abroad experience for the participant.
ACADEMIC CREDIT: Students receive Transfer credit for courses taken abroad through Affilaited/Approved programs, depending upon curricular compatibility with OCU academics.

    • Short-Term Faculty-Led Programs
Faculty-Led Programs usually consist of a short trip (1-2 weeks) during which the OCU faculty will teach a short yet intensively immersing class. The students will usually have to pay the airfare, the tuition associated with the class as well as any extra fees (usually posted on our website next to the class). Students will be given the academic credit for the class as if it were taught here on campus.
