About our Program

Reasons to study Chemistry or Biochemistry

Chemists are paid better and typically have lower unemployment rates than for other professions.

Employers repeatedly indicate that they want employees who can think critically and communicate effectively; these skills are developed by studying Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Chemistry and Biochemistry are excellent curricula for preparing for careers in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine.

Chemistry and Biochemistry are intellectually stimulating subjects for anyone who is interested in science.

Why Study Chemistry or Biochemistry at OCU?

  • Challenging curricula
  • Small classes; rarely will a class be larger than 24 students
  • Experienced, caring faculty who are focused on teaching and student success.
  • Laboratory courses are taught by faculty members, not by graduate students.
  • A friendly atmosphere in which students help each other.
  • Close interaction between the Chemistry and Biology departments on the Biochemistry program.
