Political Science Student and Professor Work at Democratic National Convention

August 25, 2008 - A student and a professor from Oklahoma City University’s Political Science Department will get a first-hand look at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week.

Political Science junior Rayshon Payton is working for NBC News at the convention this week and Political Science Adjunct Professor Tim Mauldin is attending the convention as a delegate for Barack Obama.

As an NBC intern, Payton is assisting NBC correspondents including Matt Lauer, Brian Williams and Chris Matthews.

Mauldin is co-chair of the Will Rogers Caucus. Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry proclaimed today “Will Rogers for President Day” in Oklahoma, a move Mauldin said is designed to show others that what Will Rogers said in the 1920s and 30s applies to similar issues today.
