THE CAREERS OUR STUDENTS HAVE GONE INTO
Students in Justice Studies and Sociology are engaged in the world today. Our students have gone on into many careers where their education helped play a vital role. Our students are prepared for careers in the 21st Century.
The Success of our Students is the Story
Lacey Novinska (JUS, 2009) is a Detention Officer II at Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention. She says she enjoys working with the youth there and is looking forward to completing a master's.
Shannon Foster (JUS, 2009)is preparing case files to be archived for the Western District U.S. Attorney's Office in Oklahoma, while completing her Master's in criminology.
Andrew Taylor (SOC, 2009)was picked up by the Forest Green Football Club in England. Check out their website and profile of Andy. Congratulations! http://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/index.asp
Vannice McCoy (CJ, 2009)has worked since June 2009 at OKDHS in the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) division. She has decided to continue at OCU and is planning to pursue her M.Ed. in the Applied Behavioral Studies program. She would like to pursue the Professional Counseling option and get her LPC.
Clint Roberts (CJ, 2004)has been a police officer for the City of Tulsa for the last five years.
Tracy Bush (MCJA, 2004; BS, CJ, 2003) is in her fourth and final year of law school in Texas. She worked for the juvenile detention center in Dallas for one year before attending law school. Tracy and Eric have two children Leo (3 years) and Gwen (1 year).
Beth Green (MCJA, 2007) is now an Agent for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Her primary responsibility is to investigate crime scenes in the western part of Oklahoma; however, she does travel throughout the state assisting in other investigations, including using Victimology in unsolved homicides. We have enjoyed having Andrew Taylor (SOC, 2009)in our program and with graduate recently behind him he has embarked on his professional soccer career playing for the Austin Aztex. Yusuke Fuse (MCJA, 2004)staff writer at The Yomiuri Shimbun and visiting research fellow at The Corrections and Rehabilitation Research Center in Ryukoku University (Kyoto, Japan) was part of a March 2009 held international symposium concerning penal populism with Michael Tonry (former ASC President), John Pratt (NZ), Tapio Lappi-Seppala (Finland), Tom Ellis (University of Portsmouth) and David Johnson (University of Hawaii). On the same day they published the book, "Globalized Penal Populism and Its Countermeasures." Laura Sutter (CJ, 2007) is a Property and Evidence Technician in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cara Burton Sanders (CJ and Biology, 2005; MSCJ, 2007) is a probation and parole counselor in Oklahoma County.
