Research institutions and programs

Talk to advisors about application requirements

Plan preparation for Graduate Admissions Testing

Investigate Financial Aid resources and prospects

Begin obtaining Letters of Recommendation

JUNIOR YEAR, Summer

Take required graduate admissions test(s), GRE, GMAT, LSAT,MCAT, etc.

Request application materials

Visit institutions, attend information sessions if possible

Begin writing your personal statement

Have the draft of your personal statement reviewed by a career counselor

Verify application(s) deadlines for targeted schools of interest

SENIOR YEAR, Fall

Obtain Letters of Recommendation

Complete your personal statement/essay

Have a career counselor approve your personal statement

Take graduate admissions test(s), if you have not already

Mail completed applications or apply on-line

SENIOR YEAR, Spring

Check with institutions before the deadline to make sure your application is complete

Visit institutions that accept you, if possible and send tuition deposit

Notify other colleges and universities that accepted you of your decision so that they may admit students on their waiting list

Send Thank You letters to people who wrote your recommendation letters informing them of your success
