FYE Programs Fire and Water
The freshmen “Fire and Water” is a traditional end of the year dinner and celebration coordinated by and honoring first year students and their successful transition into college.
The focus is on rejoicing in achievements and new friendships and overcoming negative experiences and memories.
The ceremony celebrates both the individual student and the freshman class as a whole. This celebratory dinner is an event no one will want to miss!

Phi Eta Sigma
What is Phi Eta Sigma?
Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society for college freshmen. Our goal is to encourage and reward academic excellence among first-year students at Oklahoma City University. The oldest and largest freshman honor society, Phi Eta Sigma was founded at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923.
Who is eligible to join?
All first-year students are eligible to join who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the close of the fall semester.
Is Phi Eta Sigma a social fraternity?
Although there are social events, we are not a social fraternity. There is a dignified induction ceremony to which your parents and friends may be invited. We also host projects and activities promoting academic excellence and campus and community service.
Does joining Phi Eta Sigma prohibit me from joining a social fraternity or sorority?
No. Oklahoma City University encourages all students to participate with student organizations, and Phi Eta Sigma does not limit this option.
Must I maintain my average?
No. Lifetime membership is conferred upon induction.
