Intramural Sports
The Intramural sports program at Oklahoma City University is a complete sports program that offers approximately 16 different sports. Awards and prizes are given for placement and participation alike. This program is designed to accentuate and enhance the interaction that students have with each other and faculty and staff. The Intramural Sports Program offers each individual an opportunity to maintain their overall physical fitness while communing with friends. We have a variety of league and tournament play events that are designed for both the competitive and recreational players alike. We strive to schedule events so that the majority of the student body can participate without taking away from their opportunity to get involved with other University programs. All students are required to register, for their sport of interest, in the Intramural Sports office. The Intramural Sports Department is currently located in our newly constructed $10 million Freede Wellness Center. Registration does not obligate you to participate.
Eligibility
Only Students, Faculty and Staff with a valid OCU ID are eligible to participate.
There must be a completed and signed waiver on file prior to participating in any sport.
Scholarship athletes may not participate in the sport for which they receive any scholarship.
Only one (1) alumni is allowed to participate on each recreational team.
Alumni are required to pay an entry fee of $30 and purchase an alumni identification
card in order to participate. Alumni is defined as anyone who has successfully
completed two (2) semesters, or 24 credit hours, of school or two years of employment
at Oklahoma City University. Those teams who are competing for the coveted Angus McQueen
All Sports Championship may only have 15 members.
Official rosters must be turned into the Intramural Sports Directors office prior to
the first sport the team participates in. Each team must have a captain.
Intramurals All Sports Championship
The Intramurals All Sports Championship is a coveted part of the Intramural Sports Program. Only teams may compete to win this championship. There will be categories for Men and Women. The team must sign up and complete all the paperwork necessary. Teams obtain "participation" points by entering and participating in individual sports such as Tennis, Frisbee golf, Badminton, Table Tennis and Pool. In order to receive participation points each member must participate in 90% of their games. Teams will also receive points for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in each sport. Points will accumulate and be totaled at the end of the year. In the event there is a tie, sport participation will determine the winner. If the tying teams have participated in the same number of sports, the determining factor will be the number of participants from each team. The team who had the most participants in the combined sports will be determined the winner. Points will be taken away from those who violate the rules or who conduct themselves improperly during each sports event. The Intramural Sports Director will determine if the infraction warrants a loss of points. Flagrant fouls and continued violations could result in suspension.
