The office of Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Multicultural Programs (SEIMP) initiates, advances, and promotes programming that expands awareness, understanding, and appreciation among OCU’s culturally, ethnically, and spiritually diverse campus community. SEIMP also administers the Clara Luper and American Indian Scholarships, which merge with members of OCULeads to form the President’s Leadership Class. This leadership cohort collaborates in academic, co-curricular, and community service projects throughout their academic tenure at OCU.
SEIMP strengthens cultural competency among OCU’s campus community through educational, social, and community activities designed to offer invaluable insights into the vibrancy of diverse domestic and international students, faculty, and staff. SEIMP mobilizes and supports activities led by campus organizations representing diverse populations, including Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indian, Iraqi, LGBTQIA+, Native American, Saudi, and other ethnically and culturally affiliated groups. Additionally, SEIMP supports faith-based activities, including Methodist, Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim organizations, as well as Better Together, OCU’s new inter-faith organization. Students, faculty, and staff that participate in these insightful campus activities develop enduring cultural competencies, which broaden their overall mindfulness about the respect diversity deserves.
