OCU Outreach Program

This comprehensive recruitment program identifies students from under-served populations in order to provide access and opportunity for a debt free college education.  Most of these students would not otherwise hope to reach their goals by attending a private university.

This program is accompanied by collateral programmatic retention efforts, thus identifying, recruiting and retaining excellent students for our university.  This uniquely specific program focuses on students from under-served populations.  We identify quality prospective students through community and corporate partners and through our social and civic endeavors throughout the Oklahoma community.  Our Peer Mentors travel, whenever necessary, to elementary and high schools, organizational meetings and cultural events to recruit qualified students and provide information regarding our Clara Luper and American Indian Scholarship Programs which are specifically designed to support and retain students from under-served populations.  We select qualified students through application and interview process requiring each applicant to complete an application for admission and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This approach to recruiting and retention allows us to build a pipeline of recruiting pools from which we can continue to field great students.  These students are selected utilizing the previously mentioned processes with the assistance of faculty.  These students are required to participate in the program events and activities and maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average.  These students are also required to perform 150 hours of community service.
