Minimum Computer Requirements
Overview
Currently, two schools at Oklahoma City University require their students to have laptops, the Kramer School of Nursing and the Wanda L. Bass School of Music. OCU has partnered with Dell and Apple Computer to provide the OCU community with access to resources and benefits it would not otherwise have. The Wanda L. Bass School of Music is an all Apple school, while the rest of the campus is a digital dual platform campus. Oklahoma City University is committed to integration of technology across the campus, and we anticipate a transition to a ubiquitous laptop-computing environment over the next few years.
If you are a student in a program other than music or nursing, you are not required to have a laptop at this time; however, it is highly recommended that you consider buying a laptop for your academic experience at OCU. Students, other than music students, may use either Windows or Apple hardware products. Dell and Apple brands are both supported by Oklahoma City University. Some discounts are available through the University: 1) for Dell products, see this link; 2) for Apple brand deals, see this link or use an OCU ID at the Apple Store at Penn Square Mall. Some windows-based software is required (see below), but can be used on either platform. For assistance call the OCU HelpDesk at 405-208-7777 before you buy!
Contact the OCU Office of Financial Aid now if you want to see if the purchase of a laptop can be included in your financial aid package! (405-208-5211, finaid@okcu.edu)
