AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

BFA ACTING & BA THEATRE PERFORMANCE APPLICANTS:
The candidate must perform, by memory, two contrasting monologues. The selections together should not exceed three minutes in total time. The monologues are to come from published plays.

You will also need a theatre resume, head shot and two letters of recommendation from teachers, advisors or any adult (not from your immediate family).

Letters of recommendation are evaluated by the following criteria: The familiarity of the evaluator with training in theatre, the apparent knowledge the evaluator has of the student, the amount and the quality of contact the evaluator has had with the applicant.

We recommend that the applicant audition with contemporary material and stay away from Greek tragedy, Shakespeare, Molière, and the like.

BFA THEATRE DESIGN AND PRODUCTION APPLICANTS:
Arrange an interview with a member of the School of Theatre’s Design and Production faculty. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio, resume and writing sample.

Submit a portfolio of your work that demonstrates artistic ability or technical skills that are relevant to theatrical design and production. This may include photographs, drawings, paintings, audio recordings and any artwork or technical drawings.

Submit a résumé indicating any previous experience in theatrical production, community activities and academic achievements. The résumé is evaluated in terms of relevance of the student's experiences in preparation for training in theatre design and production.

For the writing sample, submit an essay that tells us what your most challenging theatrical design or production problem has been and how you solved it.
