Minor in Art History

The School of Visual Arts is excited and proud to announce the option of acquiring an Art History Minor.  This minor will become effective Fall of 2015.

This minor has been designed to meet the needs of students who would like to complement their major course of study with a further expertise in Art History.  The courses offered will be culled from both Western and Global traditions.  These courses will benefit not only students majoring in the Visual Arts, but will also provide additional options for other students, particular those majoring in Liberal Arts, History, the Humanities, and Theatre and Set Design, among others.

Because of the addition of courses focusing on Global cultures, such as China and Meso-America, students will have the opportunity to pursue Art History studies in Non-Western traditions as well as Western European traditions.  And it is through these Global and Western Tracks of studies students will be introduced to a wider range of visual arts and their accompanying cultures that will encourage a diversity of interests, appreciation and inspiration.
