Summer Theatre in Cyprus

Students going on this trip will have the unique opportunity of studying ancient Greek drama in one of the places where it was performed over 2000 years ago. The trip includes two OCU Theatre classes taught by OCU faculty.

The students will take classes and rehearse while staying in dorms on the campus of the University of Nicosia, located in heart of the capital city of Cyprus.

Taking the class in Cyprus allows the students to combine classroom experience with valuable on-site historical connections to the ancient Greek world- and further connect their newly-learned technical skills to real world theatre experience by seeing Greek plays done professionally in several venues around the island as part of the Festival of Ancient Greek Drama. They will also be working as actors (or tour managers, stage managers, technicians and/or assistant directors if they so request) on a production of THE TROJAN WOMEN that will make a four stop tour of some of the best outdoor performance spaces on Cyprus.

The program fee includes 6 hours of tuition, double-occupancy accommodation for the duration of the program in University of Nicosia housing, all ground transportation, insurance for overseas medical expenses, and several excursions. Airfare, books, and personal expenses including meals are not included.
