About the Program

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is the largest research university in southern Europe that teaches in English, with leading programs in Medicine, Law, International Relations, International Accounting, Architecture, Computer Science and Engineering, and the number one program in the world for Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology.

UNIC includes the largest medical school on the island and provides exceptional opportunities for undergraduate students to study natural sciences abroad.

Nicosia was ranked by the Financial Times as the top small city in Europe for human capital and lifestyle, ahead of Cambridge, Oxford and Geneva. It offers a terrific student life and a multicultural community that boasts tens of thousands of students from over 70 countries.

UNIC is widely regarded as having the most developed university Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Initiative in the world. In addition to teaching, it has made significant progress in research and development in key areas of Certificate issuance.

Enhanced Learning Environment

Our University provides a student-focused learning environment with small class sizes (average 13:1 student/ faculty ratio), a wide range of laboratories for hands-on student experience, and innovative teaching methods (including problem-based learning).

  • The campus includes a restaurant, Coffeeology (one of several campus cafes), UFit (the campus gym), state of the art labs, computer labs, an open-air amphitheater, a bookstore, a copy-center, the second largest library in Cyprus with cozy study spaces, a movie theater, as well as brand new dorms which available to students who wish to upgrade their housing to single ensuite apartments with fantastic amenities.
  • Study abroad students have full-time resident coordinators who conduct full orientation for students, provide 24/7 support throughout the program, and accompany students on program excursions.
  • The program fees include the Cyprus 7-City Tour - excursions all around Cyprus. Optional international excursions around Europe and the Mediterranean for semester and summer students are available for an additional fee.

Accommodations

Housing at UNIC

Housing is guaranteed for all students who apply by the deadline. Most housing comprises university-owned apartments within walking distance from campus. Standard housing is a shared room in a two-bedroom apartment. Apartments include full kitchens and are fully furnished and fully equipped, with utensils, appliances, wi-fi, and AC/heating.

For an additional fee, students may opt for the newest, modern en-suite apartments, which opened in 2018. For more about UNIC's new dorms, please visit: https://residences.unic.ac.cy

Charged to OKCU Student Account:

Invoiced to student by UNIC:

  • On-campus housing: $1,600-3,200 depending on student choice
  • Medical Insurance: $200
  • Transportation: $300
  • Administrative Fees: $1550
  • Books and Supplies: $150

Additional costs that students pay directly:

  • Round-trip Airfare
  • Passport and/or visa fees
  • Local transportation, including travel to and from airport
  • Meals: A meal plan is not offered, but students have kitchen facilities in their housing.
  • Personal expense

Eligibility

  • Sophomore standing or above
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at beginning of program
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (Students with a 2.50 to 2.99 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Good standing with OKCU
