In the Community

Our university benefits from being nestled within a bustling metro area filled with ever-changing and growing opportunities to engage with our great city. Over the last few years, Oklahoma City has become home to several outstanding venues for a variety of activities. Check them out!

  • The Boathouse District offers all things riversport in addition to many more activities. You can explore the new Riversport rapids, get out on the water in a kayak, slide down the Sky Slide, paddle a dragon boat, and soon you'll be able to surf. The trails are a great place to walk, run, or bike.
  • Eat local by visiting one of the many Farmers Markets offered across the city. Build healthy meals with local produce, dairy, grains, and meats all while supporting our community.
  • The Oklahoma City County Healthy Department shares a wealth of information regarding health and wellness topics within the community, including the Total Wellness program. The Total Wellness program is a free interactive weight loss class for residents to help prevent diabetes and heart disease, as well as improve other areas of overall health.
  • Learn about our neighbors via the Uptown 23rd organization created to support our vibrant local retailers, restaurants, community organizations, and more.
  • Are you a runner? 1) Awesome! 2) Check out the Landrunners running club to meet up with like-minded folks and for info about where to run in OKC. 3) Red Coyote sponsors weekly runs and offers great gear!
  • We're home to many outdoor recreational areas, but Lake Hefner stands out as an excellent place to walk, run, and bike in a beautiful lakeside setting. In fact, OKC has miles and miles of multi-use trails to explore.
  • Speaking of bikes, if you're a cyclist or interested in learning more about cycling, check out the Oklahoma Bicycle Society.
