Description

For six days, six OCU students will work as museum preparators creating a large-scale installation artwork alongside the acclaimed artist-in-residence Jason Hackenwerth, while three other OCU students will document the process in film. Just like his installations at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, students will assist in the build and installation of an artwork in a professional environment.

Under the instruction of filmmaker Matt Payne, each documentary student will capture raw footage during the exhibit installation. Moreover, based on the quality of their b-roll and their presentation to finish the documentary, one of these students will be selected to continue their film mentorship with an internship to finish their film at Prairie Surf, the newly created largest soundstage in the Midwest.

All students interested in these positions must complete the application link and provide a current resume. Selected students will be invited for a zoom interview. Each of the 3 documentary film spots includes a $500 stipend for materials/rental equipment.

Dates

Installation and filming occurs in a condensed timeframe: Saturday, September 10th - Thursday, September 15th from 9a-1p and 2p-6p.

Each student will need to commit to 15-20 hours of participation in the gallery that week; each session will be approximately 3-4 hours and limited to 4 students at a time. Your dedication and reliability during installation will be mission critical.
