Economic Research & Policy Institute

The Steven C. Agee Economic Research & Policy Institute (ERPI) contributes intellectual assets to the local community through economic impact studies, economic forecasting, custom policy modeling and analysis, and statewide consumer sentiment and energy industry indices.

The institute staff regularly contributes commentary and expertise to local and regional media and donates time to the community. The institute provides undergraduate and graduate students opportunities for direct involvement in applied economic research through the Institute Scholars Program, an experience rarely provided by other business schools.

Student Experiential Learning

The Economic Research & Policy Institute at Oklahoma City University is designed to provide motivated undergraduate students and MBA students an opportunity to be directly involved in applied economic research. Each year, four to six students will be selected as Institute Scholars.

Each student will be supervised by Dr. Russell Evans, executive director of the Economic Research & Policy Institute and will be expected to spend, on average, 10 to 20 hours a week assisting with research, writing, and presentation of materials relating to contemporary economic issues. Students will learn how and be expected to collect verifiable data, analyze and assess this data, present written research using the data and be prepared to make oral presentations involving the research and the conclusions derived from analysis of the data.

Institute Scholars shall also be afforded the opportunity to accompany faculty members to certain economic functions from time to time throughout the year, such as the Oklahoma City Economic Round Table, The Economic Club of Oklahoma, The Economic Breakfast Group, etc. This will present the scholar with opportunities to meet leaders in the Oklahoma City business community and become familiar with our local, state, and national economy.
