Biography

Brian Parsons studied at Bristol University and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has worked extensively in the UK, Europe and USA at leading conservatories and university theatre departments. He was Director of Undergraduate Acting and Professor of Theatre Practice at the University of Southern California; Lecturer in Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London; Director of Drama at Shrewsbury School; Guest Scholar at New York University's Center for Ancient Studies and the Tisch School of the Arts; and Lecturer in Drama at the University of Hull. 

He has extensive professional theatre directing credits that include award-winning productions at, amongst others, the Royal National Theatre and Royal Court Theatre in London; the Bristol Old Vic; BAC and the Edinburgh Fringe; and the Aquila Theatre Company in NYC. He has directed numerous guest productions for professional actor training programs in the US and UK, most notably at Rose Bruford College, NYU, Carroll College, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and The Arden School of Theatre. 

Associate Dean Parsons is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of England, a member of British Actors' Equity and a Board Member of the Aquila Theatre Company in New York City. He has published on the subject of Greek Drama and initiated numerous Drama projects in high-security prisons in the United Kingdom.
