Biography

Matt Burkholder joined Oklahoma City University as the Director of Development in January 2022. In this role, Matt works closely with major donors to raise funds to achieve the goals of the university.

Burkholder brings almost a decade of professional fundraising experience to OCU. He previously served as both Development Director and Interim Executive Director for the Oklahoma Zoological Society. He was also the principal lead on every major event at the Zoo, including ZOObrew, a perennial top three “Readers’ Choice” award finalist. Prior to his work at the zoo, Burkholder was the Director of Development and Communications for Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma.

Burkholder earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where he played fullback for the football team. He is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL class XII and a current participant of Leadership Oklahoma City’s signature class 39.

Burkholder is passionate about the future of Oklahoma City and is proud to represent OCU to further the mission of the university to prepare all learners to create, lead, and serve.
