Biography

Rachel Barnett is the Assistant Professor of Costume Design and Technology at Oklahoma City University. She earned her MFA in Costume Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her BS in Theatre Design/Production from Illinois State University. Recently, Rachel designed costumes for Phoenix at the Out of the Loop Fringe Festival at the Watertower Theatre in Dallas. Rachel previously taught costume design and construction at Baylor University in Waco, Texas were she also designed and draped costumes for productions such as Arabian Nights, Legally Blonde:The Musical, The 39 Steps, Thoroughly Modern Mille and many more. Rachel has also worked at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival as a technician and assistant costume designer (Pericles and Taming of the Shrew) and at Walt Disney World in Florida as a costumer's assistant. Rachel is interested in draping, historical garments, costume crafts and dyeing and painting for the stage.
