Area of Expertise

Dr. Ghourchian expertise is in the area of energy economics and policy analyzing. Currently, Dr. Ghourchian’s research focuses on the impact of oil and gas production on housing market in Oklahoma, as well as industry impact on housing affordability and inequality. Her previous research shows the impact of an interest rate shock on housing prices and rents and the effect on inequality on housing affordability. She also worked on government consumption and debt impact on growth considering countries various characteristics. She teaches principles of microeconomics and natural resources and environmental economics.

Dr. Ghourchian joined Oklahoma City University in August 2018 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Energy Economics, after earning her Ph.D. in Economics from Florida International University (FIU) in July 2018. Dr. Ghourchian was granted Dissertation Year Fellowship in 2018 and Graduate Assistantship in 2013 from Florida International University. Before pursuing her Ph.D., Dr. Ghourchian received her master’s degree in Energy Economics and bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Economics from University of Tehran.
