Biography

Tom McGowan has had an extensive career in film, television, and on stage that has stretched over 30 years. His films include The Birdcage, Disney's Heavyweights, Freeheld, As Good As It Gets, Bean, Family Man, Ghost World, and Sleepless in Seattle. His almost 200 episodes of television include recurring roles as Kenny Daly on Frasier, Bernie on Everybody Loves Raymond, Uncle Jax on The Good Fight, and Joe on The War At Home. He was a regular on Down the Shore, Monty, and The Show. Guest star appearances include Veep, Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm, ER, Hot in Cleveland and many others.

Tom has received two SAG Awards for his Ensemble work in Frasier and The Birdcage.

He has also appeared on Broadway seven times, most recently in the Roundabout Theatre revival of Kiss Me Kate. Other Broadway credits are She Loves Me, Casa Valentina, Wicked, Chicago, Ivanov and the original production of David Hirson’s La Bete, for which he was nominated for a Tony and Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in a Play. His many Off Broadway productions includes The Food Chain, for which he received an OBIE Award.

He received his BFA from Hofstra University and his MFA from The Yale School of Drama.
