Tye Love holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance from The University of Oklahoma. Originally from Highland Village, Texas, Tye trained in ballet technique with Lisa Slagle at the Ballet Academy of Texas and with former director of the Joffrey Ballet School John Magnus.  In addition Tye attended summer intensives including Joffrey Midwest, Joffrey Workshop Texas, Orlando Ballet, and The Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet. 

During his time with OU, Tye performed with the resident ballet company, Oklahoma Festival Ballet and appeared in works by choreographers such as Ilya Kozadeyev, Mary Margaret Holt, George Balanchine, Agnes deMille, and many others. Also at OU, Tye had the opportunity of being selected and coached by Ballet Russe dancer, and founder of the OU School of Dance, Miguel Terekhov while performing his version of The Firebird and La Primavera. Tye performed leading roles with Oklahoma Festival Ballet on tours to Eisenstadt, Austria and Shanghai, China. 

After graduating from undergraduate school at the University of Oklahoma, Tye joined Oklahoma City Ballet as a company dancer. With OKC Ballet Tye had the exciting opportunity to originate the principal role of “Hans” in Robert Mills’ version of The Nutcracker.Tye also had the opportunity to perform as a soloist and dancer in works by Gerald Arpino, Jessica Lang, Margo Sappington, Jacob Sparso, Alan Hineline, and Robert Mills. While with OKC Ballet, Tye also served on the faculty of the Dance Center of Oklahoma City Ballet.  

After his time with OKC Ballet, Tye served as a Graduate Fellow at the University of Oklahoma School of Dance teaching Ballet Technique, Understanding Dance and assisting with Dance History. In addition to his responsibilities with The OU School of Dance, Tye also worked with the Ballet Russe Archive in transitioning the collection to an online database. A frequent guest performer Tye has appeared with dance companies throughout the United States. In addition to his dancing, Tye’s choreography has been performed by Oklahoma Festival Ballet, and students of the Joffrey Texas Workshop.
