  • All Day, Wed, Mar 20, 2019

Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center, 18154 1st Street, Spiro, OK 74959

Walks are held at 11 AM, 2 PM, and 7 PM

These special guided tours are offered at Oklahoma's only prehistoric Native American archaeological site open to the public. Each tour will be one mile of easy walking and about two hours in duration. Archaeologist Dennis Peterson will tell about the powerful Caddoans who created the mounds between 900-1450 A.D., how they became a very important leadership group, the excavations that took place here and why some mounds line up to solstice and equinox sunsets.
