At Oklahoma City University we are committed to making our unique educational experience as affordable as possible. In fact, last year we awarded over $34 million in aid! Below you will find our Freshman Departmental and Academic Merit scholarship information, as well as Talent Based and Competitive Scholarship details.
Please read carefully so you don’t miss out on any opportunities available to you and note that all scholarships on this page require full-time enrollment.
NOTE: As of their admission date, incoming students with 29 or less earned collegiate hours will be considered for freshman merit and freshman departmental scholarship eligibility.
Any combination of Oklahoma City University scholarships cannot exceed the block price tuition of 12-16 hours.

Kramer School of Nursing Scholarship Opportunities
Bama Companies Scholarship
Through the generous donation of Bama Companies, along with their CEO and OCU alumna Paula Marshall, this scholarship will provide new transfer students the opportunity to receive $10,000 per year ($5,000 per semester), with a limited number of scholarships each Spring and Fall semester. This scholarship is stackable with OCU University and Departmental Scholarships and with the Oklahoma Transfer Award up to block tuition. The scholarship is NOT stackable with the Meinder's Business Transfer Award. Candidates must be a direct transfer with at least 30 hours from an Oklahoma community college with preference given to Tulsa Community College students. Candidates must also have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (2.5 OCU GPA is required to maintain the award) and demonstrated leadership capacity.
The Kramer Way Scholarship
*This Scholarship is currently not available.*
The Kramer Way Scholarship is a gift by an anonymous donor which will provide $400,000 for ten new BSN students who are eligible to enroll immediately in NURS courses and $90,000 for six new MSN students over a two-year period. After all federal and state grants have been applied, the Kramer Way Scholarship may be applied to a student's remaining tuition. These awards may be for a maximum of two years per student. RN-BSN students are not eligible for the scholarship. No university or school fees, books from the campus bookstore, nor housing scholarships will be covered by the Kramer Way Scholarship. Federal and state grants, outside scholarships, loans, and personal payments can be used to cover the cost of university fees.

C.A.I.R.S - Creative Activity Inquiry Research Scholarship

The Creative Activity Inquiry Research Scholarship (C.A.I.R.S.) is open to transfer students in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences, Kramer School of Nursing, and Meinders School of Business who have proven research and academic skills from undergraduate level collegiate experiences. Depending on qualifications, students may be eligible to receive a tuition scholarship for up to 60% reduction in the block tuition price of 12-16 hours. This scholarship stands alone and will not be stacked with any other university scholarships, and the scholarship cannot exceed 60% of the tuition block price. The scholarship is renewable with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. The C.A.I.R.S. program requires a minimum two-year academic commitment. The C.A.I.R.S. Committee requires that applicants have submitted an application to OCU, faculty letter of recommendation, the C.A.I.R.S. application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The C.A.I.R.S. program will consider both fall and spring semester transfer applicants. Candidates must be seeking their first bachelor's degree and have earned a minimum of 3.0 collegiate GPA. Selected applicants will be required to interview with an OCU faculty mentor. Students who are outside of the Petree College of Arts & Sciences, Kramer School of Nursing, and Meinders School of Business may participate in this program but are not eligible for additional scholarships.
Esports Scholarship
Students wishing to compete on our varsity level esports team are eligible to try out for talent based scholarship awards. Scholarship amounts vary and are stackable with other university merit scholarships but may not exceed the full-block tuition rate. Information on tryout dates will be shared with all interested students by the Esports Director in the spring of each academic year. This award may be renewed each year by the Esports Director based on student performance and team participation, as well as good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment Scholarship Opportunities

National Merit Scholar, National Hispanic Scholar, National Achievement Scholar
OCU offers a $1,000 scholarship to our National Merit Scholars, National Hispanic Scholars, and National Achievement Scholars. To be eligible for this scholarship students must have been admitted to OCU and must complete the FAFSA.
Scholarship is stackable on top of other awards and is renewable for four years by maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
The Distinguished National Scholarships and Internship Office
The Distinguished National Scholarships and Internship Office at OCU can provide information about national scholarships and internships as well as Oklahoma scholarship opportunities. Dr. Abigail Keegan, the coordinator, offers advice to students on scholarship and intern preparation and assists students throughout the application processes.
Horatio Alger Oklahoma Scholarship Program
The Horatio Alger Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education.
Meinders School of Business Scholarship Opportunities
Business Students
Herman Meinders Business Transfer Scholarship
The Herman Meinders Business Transfer Scholarship is a $5,000 per semester award (with a maximum of $10,000 per academic year) for students transferring a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited community college or two-year college system into Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business. To be considered for the award an applicant must be transferring in at least a 2.5 cumulative college GPA on the transferred 60 credit hours.
The Scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive semesters (a maximum of two years) by maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA and is stackable with other scholarships. There is no interview or application to complete to be considered.

Excludes RN-BSN students. The scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive semesters (a maximum of two years) by maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. We have a rich history of helping students achieve their dreams of pursuing an education at OCU. We offer generous scholarship support for team members, whether they participate in debate, competitive speech, performance, or a combination of events. Scholarship renewal requires a 3.0 GPA.
World House Scholars
All World House Scholars will participate in service learning projects each year, complete courses addressing issues of peace, justice, and ecological sustainability and are required to complete at least one approved international education experience while at Oklahoma City University.
Esports Scholarship

Petree College of Arts & Sciences Scholarship Opportunities
Oklahoma Transfer Award
Transfer students coming directly from an Oklahoma higher education institution with a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA and enrolling in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences will automatically be awarded the Oklahoma Transfer Award. This award is $5,000 per academic year ($2,500 each fall and spring semester for a maximum of six semesters). Eligible students must be a direct transfer from an Oklahoma higher education institution (attending there the semester prior to OCU enrollment, excluding summer semesters) and have completed at least 30 credit hours post high school graduation at that particular Oklahoma direct-transfer institution. This award is only available to students who enroll in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences (excluding the Adult Degree Completion Programs ‘ADCP’). The Oklahoma Transfer Award is not stackable with Athletic Scholarships, the Education Scholars’ Program awards, Employee Remission, Minister’s Remission or Tuition Exchange. This award is only available to students who enroll and continue their enrollment in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences.
Game Design & Animation Scholarship
Beginning with the fall 2021 semester, students majoring in Game Design & Animation will automatically be awarded the Game Design & Animation Scholarship. This award is $6,000 per academic year ($3,000 each fall and spring semester for a maximum of 8 semesters for freshman and 6 semesters for transfer students). The Game Design & Animation Scholarship is stackable with other university scholarships, but the sum of all university scholarships may not exceed the block tuition rate. This award is renewed each year for students continuing to major in Game Design & Animation who maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Esports Scholarship

U.S. Schaul Endowed Philosophy Scholarship
Note: This scholarship opportunity is unavailable at this time.
U.S. Schaul (January 10, 1867- January 6, 1951) was named after the eighteenth president. He was orphaned at the age of six, when his father died from lingering effects of a Civil War wound. U.S. Schaul graduated from University of Pennsylvania, where he won prizes for debate in Philosophy, English Literature, and Greek Prose Composition. He was a Phi Beta Kappa who also participated in varsity rowing and football.
The U.S. Schaul Endowed Philosophy Scholarship is for students pursuing a B.S. in Philosophy. Students must have a 3.5 GPA, and will be required to maintain a 3.5 GPA each semester to renew the scholarship. The donor requires the student to be a U.S. Citizen, and preference will be given to students who graduated from an Oklahoma City Metro area public or private high school or junior college. The $2,500/year scholarship is renewable for three semesters, provided the student maintains eligibility.

Rose State College: Exercise & Sport Science Scholarship
Any student directly transferring from Rose State College into OCU's exercise & sport science program with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA may be eligible to receive a $2,500 (per year) Exercise & Sport Science Scholarship, stackable with academic and departmental grid scholarships. Weightlifting/Barbell Club Scholarship
Petree College of Arts & Sciences Department of Exercise and Sport Science annually offers one $12,000/year scholarship for an incoming fall freshmen and transfer student. Experience in Olympic-style weightlifting or powerlifting is required, competition history preferred. The recipient will be required to participate in three to four days of training per week and compete in two meets (including national level) per year with the Weightlifting/Barbell Club. Brooke Haley Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarships fund was created in 2005 to honor Brooke Haley, a mass communications (broadcasting) student. The scholarship is intended for students who demonstrate a commitment to the field of mass communications as well as professional. Funds are applied to tuition expenses Students must have 3.25 GPA. Current students, transfers, and high school seniors may apply.

Wimberly School of Religion Scholarship Opportunities
Dean's Scholarship
The Dean's Scholarship award is for 80% tuition.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Commit to a full-time vocation in the United Methodist Church.
- Pursue a course of study in the Wimberly School of Religion.
- Be active and provide leadership for the campus Religious Life programs.
Religion Departmental Scholarship
This award, which provides up to 70% of tuition, provides financial support to students with a strong commitment to the study of religion in preparation for a career in ministry. To be eligible, students must:
- Be enrolled in a degree track in the Wimberly School of Religion.
- Maintain a 2.5 – 3.0 GPA (depending on award).
- Be active and provide leadership for the campus Religious Life programs.
Students recommended for the Bishop Scholar Award will automatically be considered for the Dean's and Religion Departmental Scholarships. Students who are planning to study in the Wimberly School of Religion and are not United Methodist may be recommended for the Dean's and Religion Departmental Scholarships.

Phi Theta Kappa
Candidates must be seeking their first bachelor's degree, an active member of their Phi Theta Kappa chapter, have 48 semester-quality hours, a minimum 3.5 GPA, and have not previously attended any other four-year institutions. This scholarship may be combined with other Oklahoma City University institutional scholarships (excluding C.A.I.R.S.) but may not exceed the cost of block price tuition of 12-16 hours. Excludes RN-BSN students. The scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive semesters (a maximum of two years) by maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Application deadline is August 15 for fall admits and December 15 for spring admits.
Speech and Debate
We have a rich history of helping students achieve their dreams of pursuing an education at OCU. We offer generous scholarship support for team members, whether they participate in debate, competitive speech, performance, or a combination of events. Scholarship renewal requires a 3.0 GPA.
World House Scholars
All World House Scholars will participate in service learning projects each year, complete courses addressing issues of peace, justice, and ecological sustainability and are required to complete at least one approved international education experience while at Oklahoma City University.
Esports Scholarship
Students wishing to compete on our varsity level esports team are eligible to try out for talent based scholarship awards. Scholarship amounts vary and are stackable with other university merit scholarships but may not exceed the full-block tuition rate. Information on tryout dates will be shared with all interested students by the Esports Director in the spring of each academic year. This award may be renewed each year by the Esports Director based on student performance and team participation, as well as good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
United Methodist Scholarship Opportunities
United Methodist Dollars For Scholars (UMDFS)
The number of awards available through this program is determined annually by the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation. Oklahoma City University is a “triple your dollars” partner university.

LEAD Scholarship (formerly known as CYME)
Oklahoma United Methodists who have attended LEAD Leadership Camp (formerly known as CYME) at least four times during their high school years are eligible for the LEAD Scholarship. The scholarship covers half tuition and can be stacked with some OCU scholarships up to the cost of full tuition. To verify your eligibility, click on the link below. Minister Remission for Methodist Clergy and their Dependents
First-time undergraduate students entering in a fall semester who are a dependent of an ordained, United Methodist Minister who actively serves the United Methodist Church within the Oklahoma Conference or the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference may be eligible for Minister's Dependent Remission. Minister’s Remission is not always guaranteed.
United Methodist Higher Education Foundation Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarship Programs – All awards are made for the fall term each year. Renewal of awards is not automatic. Application must be submitted each year. Students may receive only one scholarship award per year from the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation. Apply online or find further information at umhef.org.
Named Endowed Scholarship Funds
UMHEF has a number of named endowed scholarship funds that have been established by private donors. Some of these funds stipulate that the applicant meet specific criteria. Applicants to the General Named Endowed Funds program will be considered for all scholarships for which they are qualified. Minimum award is $1,000. Apply online at umhef.org. Online applications are accepted from January 1 through April 1 each year.
Bradley H. Wahnee Memorial Scholarship
Recipient must be a Native American (enrolled as a member of a federally recognized tribe) pursuing a degree in a medical field. The scholarship will be awarded for the recipient’s books beginning with the sophomore year through graduation.
Global Board of Higher Education & Ministry Scholarships and Loans
GBHEM offers a number of scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate study, including general scholarships, racial and ethnic scholarships, and degree specific scholarships. Scholarship applications are accepted annually between January 1 and March 1; loan deadlines vary.
ROTC Scholarship Opportunities
Air Force ROTC
Oklahoma City University students now have a unique opportunity to join Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) while attending OCU by a cooperative agreement between Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma.
Army ROTC
Army ROTC students may compete for two, three, and four-year scholarships. Army ROTC also has a scholarship program for nursing students. After you complete your degree and the Army ROTC program, you will receive a commission as an officer in the United States Army.

Oklahoma City University Scholarships
- If a student receives a substantial university scholarship that exceeds their academic and departmental scholarships, the special scholarship will replace all other scholarships (this includes talent, and/or athletic tuition scholarships).
- Scholarships do not automatically stack. Pageant Scholarships (Miss OCU, Miss Oklahoma and Miss Black Oklahoma) stand alone for the semesters they are awarded and cannot be stacked with other university tuition scholarships.
- All tuition scholarships can only be applied to the standard block price of 12-16 hours and will not cover additional hours.
