CARES Act Information for Retirement Plan Participants

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) contains numerous provisions seeking to expand and modify retirement plan provisions, in large part to allow participants to access plan savings to help get through the financial challenges associated with the current coronavirus pandemic. The university is sharing a summary of the changes, their potential impacts to you, and contact information in the event of any questions.   • TIAA has live and on-demand webinars through its interactive site called the Virtual Environment: www.tiaa.org/webinars. This innovative resource offers users 24/7 access to a wide range of articles, live monthly and on-demand webinars on a variety of essential financial topics. TIAA offers new webinars throughout the year including topics like navigating women’s unique financial challenges, how to manage income in retirement, etc. The live events will give participants real-world financial tips, tactics, and techniques to help start, build, and maintain your retirement savings.
  • TIAA has suspended in-person counseling sessions in alignment with social distancing guidance. Nevertheless, virtual counseling opportunities with consultants are available. Please note, call volumes are likely high and wait times may apply.
