Jo Heidebrecht

Development Services Specialist

Works in Ann Lacy Visitor Center 303
At OKCU since 2003

What do you do at OKCU?

Jo works with the Raiser’s Edge database containing contact and donation information on constituents such as donors and alumni. The database helps the Development office with fundraising, and it’s also used to create mailing lists, serving as the university’s central repository of contact information.

Carrie Sauer, director of annual giving, said: “Most people don’t know it, but Jo’s work has an impact on every person at OCU. Every donation to OCU passes through Jo’s hands, whether it’s a $100,000 grant or a $10 payroll deduction. These donations support our schools and colleges, our student scholarships—everything! She’s also one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”

What have you done in your career?

Jo worked for the state government right out of high school but quit to raise a family. During that time, she went to night school for her degree. For the second round of her career, she worked with alumni and the website at OU Health Sciences Center. When she moved to OKCU, she started at the law school before moving to Development Services.

What do you like about working here?

“I love the people,” Jo said. “It’s like you’re working with family.” Jo eats at the caf every day and enjoys finding out what’s happening with people across campus.

What’s something people may not know about you?

“I’m an artist,” Jo said. She draws frequently and took many art classes in college.
