Wind Philharmonic
The Wind Philharmonic is dedicated to the highest standards of performance of music from the wind band repertoire. The ensemble has performed six times as honor ensemble at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association convention and been featured at the College Band Directors National Association regional convention. Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Mailman for the past 28 seasons, the Wind Philharmonic presents eight performances annually. The group has worked with composers including Michael Daugherty, Karel Husa, Frank Ticheli, Edward Knight, Martin Mailman, Ron Nelson, Roger Cichy, Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate and Joseph Schwantner.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is Oklahoma City University’s elite wind band comprised of student musicians from across campus who have demonstrated an outstanding level of musicianship and commitment to excellence. The Wind Ensemble made its debut in 2019 and has offered performances of works by composers such as Aaron Copland, Michael Daugherty, Joseph Schwantner, Ron Nelson, and Paul Dooley. The Wind Ensemble performs four concerts during each academic year featuring a number of challenging new works for wind band in addition to many works that are considered to be at the core of wind literature. Wind Ensemble is made up primarily of elite performers from the Bass School but is open to students university-wide by audition.
