Briefly describe your career path.

My wife booked a class at Canvas and Cocktails in Denver. The energy of the instructor, the business lay out and the positive response of the customers drove us back to OKC to pursue our own concept. The Plaza District was the perfect place. I spoke for years about opening a business in an awesome vintage/historic building throughout the broken sections of Oklahoma City. It's been a whirlwind getting our business off the ground but we are rolling along with the help from other OCU alumni.

Describe what an average day looks like.

I wake up to hang out with my kids in the mornings and then head out to the studio. When I arrive to the studio, I answer calls, check emails, and update Paint N Cheers social media. In the afternoons I work on commission paintings as well as PNC paintings and prepare for classes. At night and on the weekends I teach most of the classes.

What advice would you give your college self about pursuing work in your current industry?

Network in positive ways and whether I feel like it or not make painting part of every single day. Even if it is just for a small about of time.

The relationships you build in college will last your lifetime, make them count.

What is a lesson learned at OKCU that you have been able to apply to your career?

That networking means so much. The relationships you build in college will last your lifetime, make them count.

What is the most significant thing that’s happened to you since graduating?

After marriage, our 2 children, and buying a home,  I would say buying out both of my business partners and now owning 100% of Paint N' Cheers would be my number 1 achievement.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years I hope to be painting whether Paint N' Cheers is still going strong or not. I want to be an artist that can support the lives of my family.

What is your favorite OKCU memory?

Lambda Chi Alpha! The friendships that I built through the Greek system at OCU and all the memories that holds, that would have to be my favorite part of college.
