Melissa Eldredge

Who could have guessed how your final year at OCU would end? Under extraordinary circumstances, I am amazed how graciously you have handled it. You never cease to amaze me.

Bachelor of Science in Cellular Molecular Biology Magna Cum Laude Cum Honare—why does that not surprise?

From the very start, everyone knew you were going to be special. Often over the years, your mother has asked me, “Did you ever dream you would have a daughter that would accomplish …?” The answer has always been “No.” Simply, you don’t dream the inconceivable. I have lived so many of my unobtainable personal dreams through you, and it has been more wonderful and rewarding than if I had done it myself. Just getting to be a part of it is and has been incredible.

Through the high level of sports (Did somebody say National Champion?) you have played, to your incredible academic accomplishments, you are the most well-rounded and exceptional person I know. And you’re my daughter! Wow!!

God has blessed you and us through you. Always let your love of Christ be your guide.

Bryan would be and is so proud, as are your mother and I.

Congratulations! Love you the world.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5–6

Melissa, who could have guessed how your final year at OCU would end? Under extraordinary circumstances, I am amazed how graciously you have handled it. You never cease to amaze me. The pleasure of being your mother is without limits. I love you and wish you all the success and happiness in the world. Congratulations on a job well done. Stay strong and stay true to yourself. With love, from momma bear

Melissa, your life has had tragedy, lots of love and support from Katie & Joe, great golf games and establishing life-long friendships. You have brought joy to many and bad feelings to those who lost in golf to you. Your life ahead will have many challenges: seeking higher education in the medical field; finding a husband that can pass the rigorous approvals of Mom & Dad; having children and guiding them to greatness as your parents assisted you. I have no doubts about your future — you are the best; your Grandmother, Grandad, Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather were very proud of your many accomplishments. Go for it! The future and world are in your hands.

My how you have grown up and are now a college graduate in the Class of 2020. Very proud of you in so many ways. You display such wonderful character, discipline, and care for everyone. Your grandparents, great grandparents, and most of all your loving big brother are smiling down on this joyous occasion. By the way, mom and dad deserve kudos in raising you. Enjoy watching you play golf, you make it seem effortless. All the best to you in the medical field or whatever avenue you should take. You deserve the best. Love you so much.

I am so proud of the many ways you have grown over the past 4 years during your time at OCU and consider myself lucky to have had a small part in that journey. I hope you will always cherish the memories you’ve made here, the knowledge you’ve gained, the experiences you’ve had, and the friends you’ve made along the way. Among the triumphs, there have also been struggles, but always remember there is never true growth without resistance. As you transition to the next phase in your life, stop to reflect on all that has brought you to this point and how that will help you excel wherever you go in your future.

I will never forget all the long golf trips we had, staying in hotels as roommates all over the country, playing ping-pong and basketball, staying up with KL and Lex watching BLL, chilling listening to Alina & Lana, and of course all my questionable course management which I know you loved. You’re going to do extraordinary things in your life, just as you already have. A very deserving congratulations to you!
