Apply to OKCULeads


To be considered for OKCULeads:

  1. Applicants must be entering freshman (direct matriculation from high school).*
  2. Applicants must submit the application by February 1, annually.
  3. Applicants must apply for admission to OKCU before submitting an OKCULeads application.
  4. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • ACT of at least 24 or SAT equivalent (1160).
  • High School GPA of at least 3.25 cumulative.

*Due to scheduling considerations and arts management focus, prospective dance majors should apply to the Dance & Entertainment Leadership Scholarship in place of OKCULeads.

How to Apply

To complete your application you must submit:

  1. A resume detailing your leadership, community service and extracurricular activities.
  2. Choose one: OKCULeads Application or Dance & Entertainment Leadership Scholarship Application.
  3. Leadership essay (see each prompt below; no more than 500 words)
    • OKCULeads Topic: Describe an experience that demonstrates your leadership philosophy and approach/skills. Use vivid details to explain how the example embodies your definition of leadership. Additionally, please explain why you want to be a member of OKCULeads: The President's Leadership Class.
    • Dance & Entertainment Leadership Scholarship Topic: Describe your career goals in the entertainment industry.


OKCULeads students will enroll in "The President's Leadership Class" (PLC), a one-hour course during the fall and spring semesters of their freshman year (Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m.) This class is a non-credit course and will receive a pass/fail. Through the course curriculum, students will gain insights into their own leadership strengths and group dynamics. The PLC will also engage in:

  • Living/learning community activities.
  • Volunteering for and planning local community service projects.
  • Attending exclusive events at the invitation of the OKCU President and class advisors.
  • Meeting scholars and distinguished guest speakers visiting OKCU.

OKCULeads students are eligible to receive leadership scholarships that can be renewed for up to four years.
