Theatre - Design & Production

Dayna Brown has been active in the Oklahoma City performing arts scene since 1984, both on and behind the stage. She comes to OCU with over twenty years professional experience in costume design and construction. Dayna just began her fourth season as Costume Director for the Oklahoma City Ballet. In addition to having costumed classical ballets, she designed and built Ma Cong’s Forgotten Memories, Yui Sato’s Ambiguous, Robert Mills’ Our Private Rooms, Firebird, and Means to Fly. As Resident Costumer for Lyric Academy, Dayna has been responsible for costuming Madagascar, Jr, Seussical, Jr, The Addams Family, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Music Man. For the past thirteen years, she has costumed musicals for Northwest Optimist Performing Arts Center, preparing a child cast of sixty to be performance-ready in two weeks, all summer long. And at Oklahoma Children’s Theatre, on an average of three shows per year, Dayna has costumed the likes of Elf, Jr., Honk, Jr, Annie, and the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Dayna is honored to share her love of the art form with young people through educational programming at Oklahoma Contemporary, where she prepares a runway show in five days, teaching 14 seven to nine-year-old designers how to sew. She began her college career at Agnes Scott College and has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Oklahoma.
