Biography

Jeff Cochran is the Professor of Stage and Production Management and Director of Global Initiatives for the School of Theatre at Oklahoma City University. As the head of the Stage and Production Management Program, Jeff oversees both the academic and production components of the program for both the School of Theatre and the Bass School of Music. As the Director of Global Initiatives for the School of Theatre, Jeff works to develop new relationships within the entertainment industry as well as partner schools around the world. In 2020, Jeff was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award for Oklahoma City University.

In addition to his work at OCU, Jeff stays active in the industry. Through the partnership with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Jeff has served as both Production Stage Manager and as the mentor for his students serving on the stage management teams. In addition to the many shows with Lyric Theatre, Jeff was excited to serve as the Production Stage Manager with Oklahoma City Ballet’s production of Nine Sinatra Songs: A Triple Bill.

Prior to his time at OCU, Jeff was an active member in the D/FW arts community. Jeff has staged managed for such companies as WaterTower Theatre, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, the Greater Tuna Corporation and Dallas Black Dance. In addition to his background in stage management, Jeff has served in a variety of roles in the performing arts. As an arts administrator, Jeff served as the Director of the Murchison Performing Arts Center at the University of North Texas. In 1996 he served as a Lighting Designer during the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jeff is an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the International Association of Venue Managers, Theatre Communications Group, Southeastern Theatre Conference and is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
