Biography

Scott Guthrie (he/him) is the Visiting Assistant Professor in Applied Theatre at Oklahoma City University. Scott has a BM and MM in Musical Theatre from Oklahoma City University, where he was a proud student of Florence Birdwell. He also has an MFA in Directing from the University of Idaho.

Scott has worked as an actor, director, music director, choreographer, producer, and educator. His work has taken him from New York to Los Angeles and countless towns in between on tour! Some theatres of note he has worked in as an actor are The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Stages St. Louis, Theatre-by-the-Sea, Cape Playhouse, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Barnstormers Theatre, New Bedford Festival Theatre, Florida Repertory Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, and 11th Hour Theatre. And for fans of the TV show Damages, he was Luke Richards.

As a director, Scott has directed for Theatre-by-the-Sea (Forever Plaid), The Secret Theatre ([title of show]), The Network Theatre Company, The University of Central Oklahoma (Rent), Oklahoma State University (A Year with Frog and Toad), as well as the Oklahoma! Interactive tour for Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.

Scott has taught on the faculties of Rider University, University of the Arts, University of Central Oklahoma, and now at Oklahoma City University. He has held masterclasses at many universities and professional theatres, where he loves teaching auditioning and performance practice to up and coming performers.

Scott currently lives in the Oklahoma City area with his wife Lindsie, their son Jed, a French bulldog and a bunny. They are all very happy.
