Biography
Gamble, of Erie, Penn., brings a wealth of experience to Oklahoma City University, with a distinguished career spanning more than five decades in higher education. This includes serving from 2006-2022 as a school president, first at Mercyhurst University in Erie, and then at Maria College in Albany, NY.
During his career Gamble has served as an adjunct and tenured faculty member and as vice president of academic affairs (Mercyhurst); chief academic officer (Oak Point University, Oakbrook, Ill.); and dean of health sciences (Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York).
He has considerable experience with accreditation, including serving as a visiting team member with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and as a host for MSCHE and Higher Learning Commission visiting groups.
Gamble earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Gannon University in Erie, and a master’s degree in psychology and doctorate degrees in psychology and social psychology from Syracuse University.
He attended Harvard University’s institutes for new and experienced presidents and received post-doctoral training in child psychology and child development and social policy from Yale University. He has authored or co-authored numerous research publications and frequently presented his work at seminars and conferences.
Gamble is an active community volunteer, having served on a number of boards and task forces, including with the United Way of Erie County, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, the National Psychology Honor Society, and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Erie County, where he acted as board chair and founding director.
