Oklahoma City University is now offering students at Oklahoma’s two-year colleges several financial incentives if they want to transfer to pursue a business degree at OCU, and the deal is even sweeter for those transferring from Oklahoma City Community College.
OCU’s Meinders School of Business has introduced the Oklahoma Business Transfer Scholarship, which provides $5,000 per academic year for students transferring from any two-year college in Oklahoma.
The scholarship is now available to the first 25 students who qualify and are admitted to the Meinders School of Business. To qualify, students must transfer at least 24 credit hours and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
Additionally, OCU offers a number of stackable scholarships for transfer students.
The Transfer Academic Scholarship offers all transfer students between $4,000 and $7,000 a year, depending on college GPA. Transfer students in the Meinders School of Business are also eligible for the Transfer Departmental Scholarship, which offers between $2,500 and $4,500, based on college GPA.
What does this mean for students at two-year colleges in Oklahoma?
A transfer student with a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.6 who is admitted to the Meinders School of Business would be eligible for all three scholarships:
- Oklahoma Business Transfer Scholarship: $5,000
- Transfer Academic Scholarship: $7,000
- Transfer Departmental Scholarship: $4,500
This would create a total of $16,500 in academic year scholarships. With the annual block tuition rate at OCU of $28,936, that means annual tuition at OCU for a transfer student in this scenario would be $12,436.
Students at Oklahoma City Community College can tack on even more financial assistance when they transfer into the Meinders School of Business.
The school offers the Meinders Business Transfer Scholarship to OCCC students, with awards ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 per year, depending on college GPA. The only requirement for this award – which is available to the first 15 students who qualify and are admitted to Meinders – is that students transfer from OCCC with a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.5.
OCCC students with a transfer GPA of 3.6 or higher could qualify for all four scholarships mentioned above – this means $5,000 + $7,000 + $4,500 + $8,000 = $24,500. In other words, OCCC students can attend OCU for less than $4,500 in tuition per year.
