A renowned energy expert will give a presentation titled “Sustainable Energy Transitions” at Oklahoma City University at 1:30 p.m. April 15.

Scott Tinker, director of the Bureau of Economic Geology, professor at the University of Texas at Austin and producer of the documentary “Switch,” will discuss how the energy industry and resources are changing, and what it could mean for the future. The presentation is free to the public and will be held in OCU’s Meinders School of Business at N.W. 27th Street and McKinley Avenue.

Tinker specializes in bringing industry, government, academia and non-governmental organizations together to address major societal challenges in energy, the environment and the economy. The Bureau of Economic Geology is the largest research organization at UT with programs in energy, the environment and economics.

His film “Switch” has been screened in over 50 countries to more than 15 million viewers. The documentary is about the current state of global energy. “Switch” has since expanded to the web-based Switch Energy Alliance, a website with more than five hours of short-format videos and other content on the topics. Tinker is working on two new films addressing global energy poverty and the energy transition.

The presentation at OCU is co-hosted by the university and Ascent Resources. The event is free to the public, but RSVPs are encouraged at okcu.edu/tinker. Free parking is available on the north and south sides of the Meinders School of Business building.
