English professor Dr. Brooke Hessler will give the keynote address at the eighth annual Oklahoma Service-Learning Conference will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City.
The conference is titled “An Education of Service for a Life of Community Engagement.” The event is hosted annually by a consortium of institutions led by Oklahoma City University, Langston University, University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, and by Oklahoma Campus Compact. It features multiple tracks by discipline for service-learning and a community partners panel.
Participation is free and includes lunch. Registration is required on the conference web page.
Hessler’s presentation is titled “Make it a Good Story: What ‘The Hero’s Journey’ Can Teach Us About Transformative Service-Learning.”
