New String Orchestra to Give Inaugural Performance

Bass School of Music professors have created a new string orchestra called the Oklahoma Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and will have an inaugural performance at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Tomasz Zieba ─ instructor of cello and chamber music ─ together with OCU violin instructor Sophia Ro and viola instructor Donna Cain, created the professional string orchestra. The ensemble consists of some of the music school’s most talented string students, faculty and alumni.

The inaugural performance will feature J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Antonio Vivaldi's “The Four Seasons.”

“The Four Seasons” violin soloists will feature Ro and OCU alumni Angelica Pereira and Elizabeth Venegas.

The concert will be free of charge. The church is located at 1901 N.W. 18thSt.
