The U.S. News & World Report announced today that Oklahoma City University once again has one of the best online business school programs in the U.S.

The rankings placed OCU at 48th in the country for Best Online Business Programs (non-MBA), a category that includes a wide variety of specialized programs. The rankings specifically recognize OCU’s online master’s programs in Energy Management and Energy Legal Studies. The Meinders School of Business has been on the list for seven consecutive years and is one of only two schools in Oklahoma to rank in the top 50.

“The Meinders School of Business is honored to be recognized as a U.S. News Best Online Program and highly ranked once again,” said Graduate Energy Program Director Meredith A. Wegener. “The energy industry offers many opportunities in power generation, transportation, renewable resource development, fossil fuel transition and continuity, and windows to address key issues such as energy poverty and environmental change. This is an exciting time to earn a master’s degree focused on energy.”

The Energy Legal Studies and Energy Management degrees provide rigorous, graduate-level education for professionals working in the energy industry. The energy-focused curriculum prepares graduates to succeed in leadership roles or begin their own company.

The Meinders School of Business began offering live-streaming, hybrid courses in 2012 to out-of-state students and on-campus students who relocated or traveled frequently for work. The desire to complete the degree online has grown in recent years, and because of this, the two programs in energy will again be offered online in the 2021 fall semester.

“Our energy master’s students not only seek a rigorous graduate degree, but also future success in impactful positions in many states throughout the country. Building upon our engagement with the energy industry and our mission to innovate, the graduate energy programs strive for success both in and out of the classroom as we work to help our graduates achieve their goals.” Wegener said.

The full list and methodology can be viewed on the U.S. News & World Report website..

U.S. News ranked the schools on five general categories: student engagement, a measure of how well students can interact with their instructors and fellow classmates; student excellence; expert opinion, a survey of high-ranking academic officials in business; faculty credentials and training; and student services technology. U.S. News selects factors, known as ranking indicators, to assess each program in those categories.

The Meinders School of Business ranks in the top 4.5 percent of business schools in the world and has earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The M.S. Energy Management and M.S. Energy Legal Studies programs are also accredited by the American Association of Professional Landmen.
