OCU faculty to lead programs to Belize, Costa Rica, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom

Oklahoma City University faculty will lead programs to Belize, Costa Rica, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom in 2017, offering students from across disciplines opportunities for short-term study-abroad programs with their peers.

Nursing students may join professor Pam Boeck for a week in Belize in January to complete the clinical portion of their spring Community Nursing course.

Primate Behavior in Costa Rica with Dr. Laurie Kauffman of biology allows students to learn first-hand about conducting field research while earning four credits and fulfilling the Petree College of Arts and Sciences laboratory science requirement.

Acting and film production majors can complete their On-Camera Acting requirement in Paris while also earning up to six hours of French.

Students with a passion for writing and art may explore Dr. Karen Schiler’s Grace and Place: Creative Writing in Italy. This course offers students three hours of English credit, plus three hours of Italian language credit. It also satisfies the Cross-Cultural and Arts General Education requirements.

For over a decade, mass communications students from both Oklahoma City and Singapore have participated in professor Karlie Harmon’s British Media course, set in London and including visits to major British media outlets.

Several of these programs offer discounts for early enrollment, with the first deadline set for Saturday, Oct. 15. For more information or to apply, go to okcu.abroadoffice.net or email [email protected].
